Articles by Drs. Oleary on therapies offered at their Anchorage, Alaska practice.

  • Projective Identification
Projection is the unconscious act of attributing something inside ourselves to someone else. Usually, but not always, the "thing" we are projecting is an unwanted emotion or attribute.
  • Shame
The shame inherent in the dynamic of bullying is powerful for all involved, and often requires the help of a therapist. Children need help identifying their feelings, building a healthy view of themselves, developing empathy for others, and repairing the damage of the shaming messages they have received.
  • Adolescents
For about the first eighteen to twenty-five years of our lives, a major developmental task is separation and individuation.
